This space is a place for me to share something that my husband and I call “bluebird living.” It’s the mentality based on Romans 12:13, “When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality” (NLT). It’s also based on these verses that remind us that God cares for the birds and will continue to take care of us, too.
- Matthew 6:26 (ESV) Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
- Luke 12:24 (ESV) Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds!
“Bluebird” also comes from the road that our dream house sits on. It’s older and in bad need of repairs, but it’s a place where we could effectively minister to others in several ways. We’re praying that God will somehow make a way for us to be able to get into it (join us, maybe?) We are excited to see how God works this one out!
These stories aren’t just about us, though. They’re about how our God is working in our lives so that we can love on others too. They’re about the insatiable love of God ebbing and flowing in our lives so that we can share it with everyone.
Do we always have it together? Not hardly. Will we always make the right decision? Most likely not. That’s just not how things work. But I do promise to tell it like it is to the best of my ability. Thank you for grace!
